My first solo trip was to London, immediately following a one-month internship in Dublin, Ireland. While only for a week, it really tested me to be self-sufficient, and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I truly believe that it was one of the greatest growth experiences I’ve had to date. I got lost on the Tube trying to find Abbey Road (which literally took the entire day… and from St Pancras too)… but after finding it and having a beer, I had an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. Nobody I knew was around to help me, I had never ridden on a subway system before, yet I still accomplished my task.
Since then, my love for traveling, experiencing new cultures, and meeting amazing people has only grown. With each new city I explore, I myself grow as a more well-rounded, empathetic human being. This is why I travel, and this is why I strive to do so as often as I can.
